Conference Program

The days will commence at 8am for tea and coffee before the formal sessions starting at 8.30am. A delicious morning and afternoon tea will be served daily. The program will end at 4pm on Saturday and Sunday, and at 5pm on Friday, which is the conference dinner night.

Download a draft copy of the program HERE (subject to change without notice).

A sumptuous, five-star dinner (complete with five-star company!) will be held in the Melbourne Sofitel on the Friday night, which will present a great opportunity to get networking with those you'll be spending the weekend with. Speaking will be Helen Shardey, Shadow Health Minister (VIC). It's an offer too good to refuse! Be sure to join in on the fun and let your hair down. Oh, did I mention it's going to be an alcohol-free weekend?

Just kidding! But do make sure you register for dinner when you send in your registration form, as we cannot guarantee you a seat if you turn up on the night.

Check out the details for dinner HERE.

Everyone will have a fabulous time and realise how amazing each and every one of us is - and what we are truly capable of... if we allow it. Some of us just need a little confidence. Some are looking for inspiration or perhaps motivation. Maybe you don't even know. Whatever it might be, we're sure you'll find a 'little something' to excite you at the Australian Birth & Post Natal Services Conference.

Babies & Children

The Australian Birth & Post-Natal Services Conference understands that there will be mothers attending who have breastfed babies and/or are unable to obtain childcare. We would very much like to say for everyone to bring their children and babies to make it easier for you, but as this is primarily a professional development conference - not a 'mothering' conference - it would be appreciated if you can pre-organise childcare for children older then 'babes in arms'.

If you do need to bring your little one, they are of course welcome in this instance, however if your child becomes unsettled or noisy (as they do at times!) at any time of the conference, we ask you to be extra vigilant and please leave the room as soon as you can, in respect of speakers and other attendees who may have trouble hearing. I know I have been to conferences before where I have been very happy to see babies and children there (I have a breastfed toddler of my own who was being cared for), but I was also disappointed to miss key messages over an extended time.

This conference will be unlike any other conferences you have been to: it will be a dynamic, professional conference in which many speakers are paid much money to attend. Also, please note, that on the Friday, there will be a movie-length audio visual presentation for which the lights will be turned off.

The Melbourne Sofitel has childcare facilities that need to be organised prior to the event, so please contact them if you need childcare in-house - they will probably be able to bring your child to you for feeds or when required. I am also looking into other options and will update this section with any news.

Want to share the cost of a nanny/babysitter with others? Email or phone the conference office below as we have names of others wanting to share costs.
